Just 5 Days!!

As if you really need to be reminded, our waiting is almost over. Five days till Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince is in stores. We'll finally see if all our theories are true. Speaking of which, just last week, the back cover of the book was released. You can view it by clicking here.

Scholastic: The back cover depicts Ron and Hermione as well as two other Hogwarts students looking at “the Dark Mark”. Drawn in the same green tones as the front cover, GrandPré has created another incredible piece of art that captures the essence and mystery of the Harry Potter books.

Fiction Alley begins fundraiser for deceased fanfiction author

Just recently, one fanfiction author from Fiction Alley, Katie O'Brien, lost her battle to leukemia. At Schnoogle, a division of FA, Katie had written one story with her father, tailing sixty chapters and now complete. Ficton Alley has begun a fundraiser for a scholarship in Katie's name, which will go to aspiring authors and artists over the next three years.

New Movie Role for Radcliffe

Irish Examiner: Daniel Radcliffe will break out of his Harry Potter mould when he stars as an Australian orphan in his first major role away from the magical saga.

The 15-year-old starts work on December Boys - based on Michael Noonan's novel about four orphans in 1960s Australia - in November, when Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is released in cinemas worldwide.

Two men steal HBP and attempt to sell it

Reported earlier, two men (a 37-year-old and a 19-year-old) attempted to steal two copies of J.K. Rowling's new book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The 19-year-old was accused of harassing people with a fake gun. The two copies of HBP have been retrieved and the two men have been released on bail. For more information on the story, click here.

Victory at the Kids Choice Awards

Our favorite boy wizard picks up two orange blimps at the Philippines Nickelodeon Pinoy Kids' Choice Awards. Harry Potter beat titles such as Lemony Snickets in the favorite book category, and was also on top in the favorite movie category (Prisoner of Azkaban). You can read the full story here.

We thank everybody who has been bearing with us during the transitions being made. It takes time, but in the long run it will ensure a much better experience for all of our members. Remember that June has been named Spread the Magic month on Accio Firebolt, host to our very own TriWizard Tournament, and will feature new ways to earn sickles and house points, and new emphasis will be placed on Harry Potter. Forum Upgrading

As many of you may have noticed, yesterday around noon (EST), the forums went down. This is because Kirsten is upgrading to the newest software from vB, since we've had problems in the past with the older version. As of now, it's estimated that they'll be back on Monday or Tuesday, and you can check for updates and progress on the main forum page.

It has been reported that bets are being taken on a certain character dying in the next book. Some say it is very "obvious" that this is the result of a manuscript leak. The Sun reports this, after a "cluster of maximum £50 wagers on The Half-Blood Prince..."

In a recent interview on popular morning show the Today Show, Katie Couric announced the possibility of an interview with our favorite books' author, J.K. Rowling. On the show, Couric said she may be "talking to" Rowling about the upcoming release, Half-blood Prince.

Via Yahoo!News Kids the ages from 8 to 16 years of age that currantly Britain, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa will be offered the chance through media competitions to join the weekend of celebrations on July 16th.

The children will travel in horse-drawn carriages to the castle for the promotion, which will be broadcasted live worldwide on television and radio.

Each Child will take home a copy of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince signed by JK Rowling
